Values

Culture:

Create a customer focused company that is supported by a cohesive, competitive, action oriented team with high accountability and support.  Deal with truth as the measure of reality.  Focus on solutions and not on blame.  Make the brands a place where people aren’t afraid to take risks.  Have fun and embrace the industry.

Leadership:

We must adhere to our brands vision that includes leadership, innovation, quality and a dedication to youth. This will result in total brands growth and market penetration.  We must communicate this vision to everyone connected to the brands no matter how large or how small their impact on the brands.

Vision:

Brands vision includes a commitment to innovation, a dedication to excellence and devotion to youth.  Our vision first should tie everyone connected to the brands to C&C’s Brands Roots – Innovation and Fun.  Next the vision should tie back to the footwear and accessories. All of this must tie back to the youth culture in authentic active sports culture of surf, skate and an active youth lifestyle.

Core Competencies:

We must regularly review the core competencies of our people to assure that our team has “The Stuff” that we need to excel at to be competitive.  We must assure that we have highly competent people that are multi talented. We must be tied together by relatively simple and flexible structures. We must develop winning plans and strategies and we must deploy them effectively.  Each key manager must forge alliances with other brands managers and compliment areas of strength, and deal aggressively with weaknesses.  No Passengers!

Embrace Change:

We must all regularly and eagerly embrace change.  Change is a constant – we must lead it, manage it and make it happen!  We must regularly challenge the status quo.  We must reinvigorate the brands in every way possible every season.  We must raise the bar and define new rules for the industry! Our very success today depends on our ability to react quickly to the opportunities in the market.  We must also be aware of and in a position to respond to the changes in the market and competitive challenges of our competitors.

Face Reality:

Determining and Facing Reality – about people, situations, products, plans, programs, team riders, events, past decisions and actions – either it is working or it isn’t. Look reality in the eye and then act quickly and decisively on that reality. Remember most of the things that affect the success of the brands are or have been within our control – our lack of success is usually due to our own bad people decisions, our collective or individual mismanagement or our bad decisions.  Those who are willing to face the truth about their mistakes are those who are usually successful in business and in life.  Denial is our worst enemy and extends the delay to problem resolution.

Speed and Simplicity:

Speed has become even more imperative with time.  Toady’s competitive environment demands that we embrace speed and agility. Our decision making must be rapid and decisive.  We must become agile in our efforts to embrace change and respond to opportunities. Faster in every case is better. Our ability to compete is dependent on our ability to make decisions and to respond – quickly!

Processes:

Design management and business systems and processes that focus on the end consumers as well as our retailers and that support a growth strategy
.
C&C must become a market leader:

We would rather be riding a big wave at Whiamia than a ripple at Lake Tahoe. Leaders make waves, followers hardly make ripples.

Competitive Obsession:

Management must be obsessed with winning – Competitiveness must drive every decision we make.

The Very Best People:

We must hire the very best people we can find. – What coach with the right instincts and a  passion for winning would field a Super Bowl or Olympic team that wasn’t made up of the absolute best players available?  We must have “Super Stars” in every “Game Breaker” position – period!!!

Leaders not Managers:
We don’t just manage people we also must lead them! We must inspire and challenge people to do their best. They must be empowered to make the decisions that they need to make, when they must make them.  They must be empowered to create their own set of key players. If our key managers are properly aligned with the company Vision and Goals, if they have a passion for the brands and they have displayed a pattern of making good decisions; then we, as their superiors, should get out of their way.
